After 100 Articles

It has been four and a half months since I started writing my articles. For the first two months I wrote them every day. Then I changed my pace to one article every two days. Today I am writing my 100th article.

It has been quite a journey and I want to keep writing as much as I can. I enjoy it and I can see the difference in me.

In my articles I have tried to talk about some specific categories like writing, literature, language, culture, self-improvement, psychology, philosophy. Some required research, study, reading and some were just from a part of my life.

I didn’t know I’d get this far because I didn’t know how it would turn out. I thought I could write an article a week. But the dedication and motivation I had at the time was thankfully at its peak, so I didn’t want to miss a day. So I see this as a challenge and a personal responsibility to become a better writer when the time comes.

Some articles were more popular than others, some were of no interest at all. But that never bothered me, nor did I see it as a problem. Because that was not my concern in the beginning.

When Medium’s membership policy changed, I wanted to give it a try. To see if I could get something out of it. Honestly, it’s not that bright, but again, it was a little experiment for me to see how things worked.

I see this profile as my portfolio, writing as much as I can, creating an informative archive. Rather than focusing solely on simple or solely on detailed topics, I try to find a balance to create immortal ones that I can return to and read whenever I need to refresh my memory on those topics.

Another benefit of writing consistently is that it helps to keep your mind healthy. You always have to think about what to write, how to write and where to start. You create a scenario and try to find the best outcome for it. Sometimes it takes hours and hours until you think it is finally in a better shape. That is what I enjoy; creating a piece of work that I like to see.

I try to keep my articles to a certain reading time, 3–7 minutes at the most, depending on the topic. Apart from the time consuming part for me, it can also be tiring for you to read. Even though I create these articles for my own taste, I feel that sharing them comes with a responsibility. Credibility is also a must, as some sources must be cited.

All in all, it is a pleasure to be here writing for more, no matter how many people follow, like, comment or highlight. However, I do appreciate them, and especially those who contribute their honest and constructive thoughts and criticism. It helps me to see things in a wider perspective, or to see where I might have missed something in an article.

As well as writing, I love to read. There is an ocean of information out there. Sure, there is a lot of unnecessary stuff that I am not interested in at all, but when you see something valuable, it shows up.

So thank you all for giving me your precious time. I want to keep doing this for as long as I can. Maybe it will not be as disciplined all the time (life is like that), but I do not want to stop at all. Because to become a better writer, I need to keep going.
